The heat is back on Luis Enrique following Barcelona's latest slip-up, the drab 1-0 loss away at Real Sociedad, with several Spanish papers questioning the coach's tactics and team selection.
"Barça's line-up is becoming bigger news than their play, which only heightens the debate about Luis Enrique. Right now it's not clear whether he's a daredevil, a visionary or simply a coach who tries to pick [what he sees as] his best team and pays no heed to the table when doing so", El País claimed in the wake of Sunday evening's result.
El Mundo branded Enrique's stubbornness "absurd" and echoed suggestions that the 'Azulgranas' squad are currently beset with confusion: "Not everyone in the dressing room understands the constant tinkering with the personnel and formation. Instead of looking assured when winning, they have won in spite of their uncertainty".
The local press in the Catalan capital haven't shown Enrique any mercy either: "He doesn't listen or learn from his mistakes and his tactical approach is clumsy", according to Sport, who added, "The coach is getting it wrong and the team aren't rising to the challenge. That's the sad truth of it".
The facts speak volumes. Not only have Barça failed to convince practically all season, but the defeat in San Sebastian was also the fourth game of the campaign in which they've failed to score, something that should be unthinkable considering the attacking arsenal at their disposal.
Now the big question is how Enrique will deal with the adversity, especially considering his tendency to lash out in the face of criticism. Indeed, his cause certainly hasn't been helped by his distant and at times hostile relationship with the press, which dates back to his playing days.
